THREE IN A ROW!!

In the photo are the 2011 Dundalk Schools' Champions.
For the third year in succession the Rock girls took the cup.
In the first round the girls had an easy run to qualify for the finals.
After some very exciting matches we met St. joseph's in the final - a game which proved to be a very close encounter. Even after 3 periods of extra time the scores were even and in a golden basket scenario Chloe took a tremendous basket with a long shot from the side - WINNERS BLACKROCK. -THREE IN A ROW.

The February 2011 girls' basketball final proved to be a very close encounter between two teams who played with great passion and effort. The girls organised and refereed the preliminary matches and the final was refereed by Mr. Morahan. Both teams enjoyed great support in the final and Nina's team had a narrow victory over Eimear's team. WELL DONE everybody.

The Finals of the inter-schools Girls Basketball Competition which was help on Thursday 30 April was won by the Blackrock Girls. After wnning both games in their group, they proceeded to play the Friary Girls in the Semi-Final.
After a very tight fought match the Blackrock girls won by 8 pts to 4 pts. The Final between Kilsaran and Blackrock was a very close encounter full of great scores and much tension with the Blackrock Girls claiming victory by thee closest of margins 10pts to 9 pts. Full credit to the Kilsaran girls for their never-say-die attitude.

Over the past number of years a very strong tradition of basketball has developed in our school and we have had a lot of success. The two in a row which the girls won in 2006 & 2007 will always be particularily memorable.
