Our school was bursting with creativity and positivity from February 10th-14th as we celebrated our very first Creative Schools & Wellbeing Week. This exciting event was organised by Ms. Connolly, along with Paula Mongey, our Creative Associate from the Creative Schools Initiative. Their vision was to provide our pupils with a chance to experience how creativity can play an integral role in education, while also nurturing confidence and promoting wellbeing.
Earlier in the school year, a Creative Committee was formed, made up of pupil representatives from 1st to 6th classes. This group played a vital role in gathering creative ideas from across the school, ensuring that every class had a chance to share their unique vision for the week.
Leading up to the event, we held a fun and inspiring competition across all classes. Each pupil had to come up with a design for what they would make out of a box. The winning designs from each class were then brought to life during art lessons, using recycled materials. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all the parents who kindly sent in recycled materials for this project. The final group art creations were proudly displayed in our school lobby for everyone to enjoy.
Throughout the week, our students engaged in an incredible array of activities that encouraged creativity and wellbeing. Some of the highlights included:
- Cereal Box Dominoes
- Making Friendship Bracelets
- Painting Stones with Positive Slogans
- Tie-Dye T-Shirts
- Drama
- Music and Storytelling
- Gratitude Reflections
- Doodle Art
- Beach Art
- Yoga
- A Short Talk on Nature & Birds
- Badge Making
- Science Experiments
- Valentine’s Art
- Creative Basketball
- Talent Show
The range of activities offered something for everyone, allowing our pupils to express themselves in different ways, whether through art, performance, or reflection.
We would like to extend a very special thanks to Ms. Connolly for her incredible effort in coordinating every aspect of this amazing week. Her dedication and hard work ensured that everything ran smoothly and that our pupils had an unforgettable experience. Her passion for fostering creativity and wellbeing in our school community is truly inspiring.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our wonderful parent volunteers. Their dedication and involvement made all the difference, and we are so grateful for their time and enthusiasm. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Lisa McCormack, who graciously captured the moments of our Creative Schools & Wellbeing Week through her photography.
As we reflect on this incredible week, we are reminded of how essential creativity is in nurturing the growth of our students—not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. The Creative Schools & Wellbeing Week was a fantastic success, and we look forward to more opportunities in the future to continue fostering creativity and wellbeing in our school community.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this week so special!
